RiverWatch Fees

RiverWatch is a not-for-profit field trip operating on a user-pay and cost-recovery basis. Student fees cover the full cost of staff payroll, vehicle rentals, fuel, administration, liability and corporate insurance, chemicals and equipment repair.

RiverWatch rafts can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people
  • The basic RiverWatch fee is $35 per student plus $2.45 GST ($37.45 total). This amount may be reduced if corporate sponsorship is available. There is no fee for adults.

  • Each class booking can accommodate a minimum of twenty students and a comfortable maximum of thirty passengers. The minimum cost for a trip is based on 20 students X $37.45 = $749 total.

  • Each day booked can accommodate one or two classes.

  • Most schools charge students more than the basic RiverWatch fee in order to cover the additional costs of arranging transportation and substitute teachers.

  • Some schools subsidize the cost for each student through fund raising or school, science and/or parent council budgets.

  • Invoicing is done after the trip has been completed. The final amount owed is determined by the number of students who actually attend the field trip.

  • Final invoicing equals the number of students X $37.45 less the deposit.
